A brief interview with Bernadette Kelly, Business Development Director, ActiveWin.
Name of business and brief overview?
ActiveWin is a team of multi-channel marketing experts focused on delivering digital acquisition and retention for our brand partners.
What was the biggest struggle in setting up the company?
ActiveWin ripped up the rulebook on how a marketing business should operate.
So getting businesses to understand how we differ from a typical advertising agency, especially in a digital hub like Manchester, took a lot of hard work but we got there in the end.
What is your biggest achievement to date and why?
Being selected to participate in VOOM 2016 as one of 12 panel professionals is a fantastic honour. It’s been hard not to blab about it until now. Richard Branson is my hero, and I’ll get to meet him.
What are the main aims of your business?
We live, breath and sleep digital acquisition. There is nothing passive about what we do.
Our level of service and commitment to results is not for the faint of heart. It takes nerves of steel and intense dedication to experience growth like ours. When we start working with a new brand, it is with the understanding that our team becomes an extension of their business, and their KPI’s become ours. That’s why we smash our targets. We have skin in the game too.
How has your business developed in the last year?
Aside from some very interesting new joint ventures, we are rolling out additional services that will be game-changers for us.
Our staff actively look for new ways to help us grow, which is music to the ears of any director of a company.
What is the best part of working in Greater Manchester?
Manchester is a vivacious city, and people feed off its energy. As a native New Yorker, it has the same buzz of Manhattan, just a bit less crowded. It tops the list of best cities to live and work in the UK, and innovation booms here.
There is a real sense of community in Manchester that you just can’t find anywhere else. We love calling it our home.
